Dyspareunia
This is where sexual intercourse is painful or difficult (normally in the case of a woman).
Ejaculation problems
Ejaculation (many people incorrectly spell it ejeculation) problems occur in many men, particularly premature ejaculation. Ejaculation is the discharge of semen from the erect penis at the moment of orgasm.
Fetishes
A sexual attraction to an inappropriate object is known as fetishism. This is sometimes a part of the body (such as a foot), clothing (such as underwear) or other objects (such as leather or rubber objects). The object replaces the normal focus of sexual love, and often sexual relationships only happen when the fetish object is present or fantasised about.
Frigidity
Frigidity is a lack of sexual desire, and is usually (but not exclusively) applied to a woman. In many cases a fear of sexual activity or even a revulsion towards sexual activity is involved.
Impotence
Impotence is the inability of a man to have sexual intercourse. The cause may be physical or psychological, but often involves emotional issues.
Libido problems
The libido is the ‘sex drive’. The term libido is also used to describe the intensity of sexual desires.
Lubrication problems
Lubrication problems sometimes occur when there is a psychological inhibition present towards sex.
Premature ejaculation
This common problem amongst men is the emission of semen during the preparatory or early stages of sexual intercourse, leading to a loss of penis erection. It often occurs before or immediately after insertion into the vagina.
Vaginisimus
This involves the sudden and painful contraction of the muscles surrounding the vagina, often when the vagina or vulva are touched. Sexual intercourse may be difficult. Some fears around sex or sexual intercourse may be involved.
