‘The use of hypnotism to treat medical problems is increasing’ -Daily Telegraph

‘The ways that doctors are willing to use hypnosis are expanding in number and range. Some use it to relieve the chronic pain of arthritis, the acute pain of dental surgery, reduce the side effects of cancer treatments and help people stop smoking or lose weight. It is even used to make food taste better for cancer patients whose taste buds have been damaged by radiotherapy.’
‘Hypnosis is now one of the most commonly used complementary therapies, with an estimated 353,000 consumers every year in England.’

‘Hypnotism for hot flushes’- Daily Mail

‘Hypnotism may be a new treatment for hot flushes. Doctors who treated a group of women with the condition with sessions of hypnotism say that the frequency and severity of the flushes were significantly reduced. The length of time of each attack was also cut.’

Why Rachmaninoff dedicated his Second Piano Concerto to his Hypnotherapist...

Sergei Rachmaninoff (Rachmaninov) dedicated his Second Piano Concerto (Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini) to Dr Nikolai Dahl, his Hypnotherapist. (This piece of music is well-known in Britain as the theme to Melvyn Bragg’s South Bank Show on tv). Rachmaninoff was so pleased with Dr Dahl because he cured him of his creative block in 1900 (after Rachmaninoff’s disastrous First Symphony) that he dedicated the Concerto to him. www.rachmaninoff.co.uk   See an article about Dr Dahl.
